The EPA is now investigating PFOA because

  2. It is found in 98% of the blood of the general US population
  3. It causes developmental and other adverse reactions in laboratory animals

Studies conducted for the EPA in North Carolina in 2007 that PFOA affected the immune system, caused liver cancer, altered thyroid hormones and induced testicular and pancreatic cancer. PFOA is also known as an endocrine disruptor
