Work can often put a lot of stress on an individual. Learning how to cope with stressful situations will not only help keep you healthier mentally and physically, but it can make your career choice more rewarding. Finding ways to relax while at work is very beneficial. At the end of the day you will walk out feeling better about yourself and your job.

Practice Deep Breathing

Deep breathing exercises can often bring a great deal of stress relief. According to WebMD, “feeling stressed evokes tense, shallow breathing.” Reverse that feeling by taking a couple of deep breaths. Inhale deeply, then exhale, and remain focused in your mind. Take a few seconds to let go of anything in front of you while you breathe. Do this when things at work are extremely tense at work.

Invest in Stress Relief Toys

Stress relief toys are a must have for people who work in a stressful career field. Items like Stress Balls, squeeze toys and bendables can help relieve tension. A repetitive task that involves a little bit of force can help release the tension in your body.

Take a Short Break

Taking a short break every so often will help you get away from a stressful situation. Step into the break room for a quick cup of tea, take an extra long bathroom break to splash some water on your face or simply find a quiet place to relax for a few minutes. This helps you calm down and allows you to become more mindful of yourself and the situation that is causing you stress. You will be able to handle any stressful situation better after you take a short break.

Pamper Yourself

Pamper yourself while you work. Try using a heated chair massager, a foot spa or find ways to enjoy small things while you work. Pieces of chocolate, a cup of coffee, a short game on your iPod during your break or whatever else seems to help you relax during the day is optimum. Finding small ways to pamper yourself will help you stay relaxed throughout the work day.
