Soy Protein Used in "Natural" Foods Bathed in Toxic Solvent Hexane
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor (excerpt)
• Hexane is a petroleum chemical produced as a by-product of gasoline refining.

• "Hexane is used to process nearly all conventional soy protein ingredients and edible oils and is prohibited when processing organic foods."

• Soybeans are bathed in hexane as part of their processing by food manufacturers

• "Hexane is a neurotoxic chemical that poses serious occupational hazards to workers, is an environmental air pollutant, and can contaminate food."

• Hexane has been detected as a chemical contaminant in soy-based foods.

• There is no requirement that food companies test their products for hexane residues (including soy-based infant formula).

• Soy protein isolate and texturized soy protein (TVP) are made using hexane baths.

• "The soy protein ingredients in most nonorganic foods such as vegetarian burgers and nutrition bars are processed with the use of hexane."

• Shocker: "Products such as Clif Bars with the label "made with organic oats and soybeans" are required by law to have 70% organic ingredients — the remaining 30%, however, can legally be hexane extracted."

Soybean processing releases hexane into the environment
Perhaps one of the most shocking realizations in all this is that soybean processing facilities release huge amounts of hexane chemicals into the environment. It is an unavoidable part of the hexane extraction process, and right now tens of millions of pounds of hexane are being released into the atmosphere each year by soy processing companies like Archer Daniels Midland and Cargill.

Protect Yourself from MSG and Aspartame Excitotoxicity
by Paul Fassa, citizen journalist
See all articles by this author
(NaturalNews) The first line of defense against the two most commonly used and pernicious food additives, MSG and aspartame, is avoidance. However, complete avoidance is not possible for everyone all the time. MSG, monosodium glutamate, has been disguised with several different names. Aspartame or its primary constituent, aspartic acid, along with disguised variations of MSG, have even shown up in food products or supplements sold in health food stores!

Eating out, you’re sure to be taking in some MSG. Even if the restaurant doesn’t add MSG to the food it prepares, MSG or disguised variations are sure to be within the foods purchased by the restaurant. Soups, gravies, and all liquids with MSG or aspartame will ensure a more rapid overload of excitotoxins than other forms of tainted foods.

Even worse maybe, now it has been disclosed that many crops are being sprayed, some for several years, with the essential ingredient of MSG, processed free glutamate. So a second line of defense is certainly in order.

What Are Excitoxins

Excitotoxins are amino acids that also serve as neurotransmitters in the brain. The nervous system needs amino acid neurotransmitters to operate. But when the dose is too high or builds from excessive daily intake, these amino acids cross the blood brain barrier and excite the neurons of brain cells to a point of absolute exhaustion. Then those brain neurons eventually die.

As one consumes MSG or aspartame over time, there is a formaldehyde byproduct from metabolizing these toxic ingredients. The formaldehyde binds with cellular DNA and causes DNA damage. It tends to stick to the DNA and over time the formaldehyde accumulation causes massive cell damage, which breeds diseases of all sorts, even cancer.

Within the brain and throughout the nervous system, heart, and intestinal tract there are glutamate receptors or channels. So it is not only the brain that is affected by excitotoxins over time. If one is lacking in glutamate or other excitoxin protection naturally, drinking or eating a large quantity of MSG or aspartame laced liquid at one time can result in an immediate negative physical reaction.

Healthy Recipe

————————————————————-

Add a Southwestern twist to vegetables and enjoy vegetables with an unusual combination of flavors.  This recipe is an excellent source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent damage to DNA and cellular structures caused by free radicals.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion cut in half and sliced thin
  • 4 medium cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 + 1 TBS chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups zucchini diced into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 cups yellow squash, diced in 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 4oz can of diced green chili
  • 15oz can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 3 TBS fresh chopped fresh oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • *Optional: drizzle with olive oil before serving

Directions:

    1. Slice onion and chop garlic and let sit for at least 5 minutes to bring out their health-promoting benefits.

    2. Prepare all the vegetables by slicing and chopping.

    3. Heat 1 TBS broth in 11-12 inch stainless steel skillet. Healthy Sauté onions in broth over medium heat for about 5 minutes stirring frequently, until translucent. Add garlic and sauté for another minute.

    4. Add zucchini, yellow squash, remaining broth, green chili, and cook for another 3 minutes or so until vegetables are tender, stirring often. Add tomatoes and continue to cook for another couple of minutes.
    5. Stir in herbs, salt, and pepper.

    Healthy Cooking Tips:
Have all your vegetables cut before you start cooking to avoid overcooking. The zucchini will start to look translucent and will release a lot of water, diluting the flavor of your dish if it is overcooked.

    Healing With Aroma

    Radiant Rose
    Apr 23, 2009

The Rose with its delicate sweet floral scent and timeless beauty is considered the ultimate symbol of femininity, love and romance. From sonnets to all of life’s most cherished moments, no other flower in history has maintained such a regal status. While today there are more than 10,000 cultivated roses grown in many areas, for uses in aromatherapy, Rose Otto from Bulgaria, Turkey and France are highly respected and sought after. In Bulgaria, the Kazanlik Valley of Roses is well known for its Bulgarian Rose Otto and Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena).

Native to the Orient and the Middle East, the Damask Rose (Rosa damascena) with its dreamy pink petals, yields a light pale yellow liquid when steam distilled. It was first distilled and credited to the 10th Century Arabic Physician, Avicenna, who wrote an entire book on its many regenerative properties.

The essential oil is extracted from the petals and is one of the most expensive essential oils. It takes approximately 60,000 roses from the Damask Rose to produce just one ounce of Rose Otto essential oil. It’s aroma is warm, deeply floral, slightly spicy and immensely rich with traces of honey undertones. Rose water is a by-product of this process and also utilized for its wonderful regenerative properties. Rose is used in many face and skin care products for this reason.

The Rose Absolute which is a reddish-orange liquid is processed by solvent extraction and yields a greater quantity of oil. It has a rich, warm, spicy-floral aroma with pronounced honey undertones.

The Rose principal components are citronellol, geraniol, nerol, farsenol, phenyl ethanol, and many others depending on the species and is known to contain more than 300 chemical compounds. Due to the complexity of the rose odor, natural perfumers sometimes utilize both Rose Otto and Rose Absolute to achieve a balance in their creations. Use Rose alone or utilize just a few drops in any blend as a little goes a long way.

Rose has a nurturing and mood uplifting effect on the entire nervous system while restoring a sense of well-being. It is excellent for all types of depression, grief and sorrow, as well as being antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, a gentle sedative, balancing, an aphrodisiac, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and mildy astringent. Helps with both male and female infertility issues. Use with caution in pregnancy due to its emmenagogue properties. Excellent for all skin types, especially mature and sensitive complexions and wrinkles.

    HAAPY MOTHER’S DAY

     What is Your Mom Worth?

Are you wondering what mom should be paid for her work as mom? Salary.com has valuated the "mom job" of both the Working and Stay-at-Home Moms! Based on a survey of more than 12,000 mothers, Salary.com determined that the time mothers spend performing 10 typical job functions would equate to an annual salary of $122,732 for a stay-at-home mom. Working moms ‘at-home’ salary is $76,184 in 2009; this is in addition to the salary they earn in the workplace.

The job titles that best matched a mom’s definition of her work are (in order of hours spent per week): housekeeper, day care center teacher, cook, computer operator, facilities manager, van driver, psychologist, laundry machine operator, janitor and chief executive officer.

Now moms and their families can use the Mom Salary Wizard to create their own "mom paycheck". The tool allows moms and their families to price the "mom job", based on location and mom’s personal hours worked in each of the 10 roles. Users can create a hypothetical mom paycheck and mom pay stub, which can be printed and emailed to family and friends for Mother’s Day

    BIG PHARMA STRIKES AGAIN!

(NaturalNews) The Mothers Act is due to be voted on soon by the U.S. Senate. This is the Big Pharma-advocated law that would require the mandatory screening of all expectant mothers for depression — with the intent of drugging them if symptoms are present.

Investigative journalist Kelly Patricia O’Meara has authored an important op-ed piece on the dangers of the Mothers Act, and I’m publishing it here, with her permission, to share this with NaturalNews readers.

    Stress Testing the MOTHERS Act

It seems these days that everything is a test. Yes, the powers that be have decided that taxpayer benevolence now is contingent upon passing a stress test. But much to the dismay of those being tested, the results may reveal, for example, that the nation’s financial wizards and auto giants are actually bankrupt midgets and unworthy of America’s support.

Given that officialdom has embraced the stress test as a barometer of future viability and success and a determinant for public financing, it seems reasonable to request that other important issues that very personally impact the health and welfare of the American people be subjected to similar stress tests. There is none more deserving of stress testing than the proposed MOTHERS Act.
